Just Simple Times

Every journey begins with that first step!

Fake it til you make it.

Don’t do it……..

I heard this phrase from a friend of mine recently; I must say she is quite the unique individual.

But, I’ve come to enjoy a moment here or there talking when I do see her; which is on a Starbucks run for a frappe, caramel, of course.

But anyway, she’s always smiling, asking people how they are, etc.

She seems happy, like a lot of us do.

But…. that one day, I sensed she wasn’t, and I was right.

That’s when she talked a few minutes and said this phrase.

“Fake it til you make it.”.

I pray often for her and many others, just as others do for me.

That’s what we do when you care about your friends, you pray for them.

But anyway…. getting side tracked here.

I’ve thought a lot about that phrase.

In some ways, I guess we all do that in our daily lives.

Simply pretending that everything is great, smiles on our faces, and crying inside.

I wonder how many people we meet in a days time, that are wearing those fake smiles.

My guess is a bunch.

Reminds me of the commercial about depression where she carries around her happy face plate, to hide the real her behind the mask.

What would happen if we all took off the masks?

None of us are perfect, not one of us, not even close.

Not one of us have that perfect dream life,

wonderful marriage,

great job,

perfect kids,

great health,

no problems at all.

Not one of us can honestly say, “oh, i have all that, and not one care at all.”

You might say it, but you would be telling a whopper of a lie!!!!

I don’t think there is a person alive today, that’s not stressed about something, not even the children of today; that is truly a heartbreaker.

So why do we try so hard to pretend our life is something that it ain’t?

Wishful thinking?

Optimism?

Shame?

Fear?

Failure?

Praying it will be?

I think we do it because we don’t want people to think less of us, to find out that our life is just as stressed and messed up as the neighbors.

Really, who are we kidding?

Each of us knows our own troubles and woes, but we don’t want the world to know it.

So what do we do?

We plaster on our best smile, and act like we don’t have a care in the world.

You hear the common greeting, ” Hey, how are you?”.

Your answer, “I’m great, how about you?”

Their reply, “Wonderful, couldn’t be better.”

Do you see my point?

Both people, most likely, we will call it stretched the truth.

I’m not saying we’re to go around with our head held low, frown on our face, like we just lost our best friend, as the old saying goes.

But, I think, bear in mind this is just my opinion, if we were a bit more honest with folks, they may be as well.

You never know if something you’re going through may be something your friend is going through as well.

God works like that sometimes!!!

I think He does it so we can be a help to each other, pray for one another, lift each other up.

One strand breaks easily, two strands are stronger, but three are the best.

God, you and a loved one or friend, or prayer partner walking through a storm together.

God is always with us, ALWAYS! I’m so thankful, how about you?

His Word plainly says:

Lo, I am with you always, even until the end of the world. Matthew 28:20

So see we are never alone, or forsaken by God.

He loves each and every one of us way too much to ever leave us.

Yet sometimes, it is just really nice to have a person right there with you as you go through things.

So folks, let’s not mope around all gloomy; but don’t be so quick to wear that fake smile either.

You can fool the world most of the time, a friend sometimes, but you can never, ever fool yourself; and especially not God!!!

Till next time!!

Always in a Hurry!

I‘m late, I’m late!!! For a very important date, no time to say hello, goodbye. I’m Late, I’m late, I’m late!!!

Do y’all remember the Disney movie “Alice in Wonderland?”

The crazy time crunched rabbit running around senselessly saying, “I’m late, I’m late!”

Well folks, after driving in town recently, I have come to the conclusion we’ve got way too many nonsense people running around acting senseless on the roads.

I was passed on the shoulder once by a teenager with music blaring, then nearly ran off the road by some crazy person weaving in and out of traffic, and then to top it off watched this crazy guy check to see what his pickup could do, by driving in the median to get through the light.

Believe it or not, all of this took place in a half hour time.

Why, that’s enough to send this old woman into a frenzy!

Idiots!!!

Yes, I called them idiots!!!

Bless all our hearts!!!

Slow down, there isn’t a thing in this world worth wrecking over.

What’s wrong with everybody????

I finally thought to myself, “Enough!!!”, and just pulled over and just sat there in my car and watched people and tried to regain my composure of calm; which I might add took a few minutes!!

Wow!

If people live their lives like most drive; they don’t see or hear a thing.

Life is just one big blur each day, just to repeat the next.

In watching and listening to people, that’s the life of so many today.

That’s truly sad, we were not created by God, to live in a rat race to be on top.

Gonna have a lot of regrets one day!!!

You spend all your time running around, set in super fast motion. You think to yourself, gotta make more money, need a nicer car, a bigger house, a bigger bank account, gotta keep up with the neighbors.

That all is such nonsense!!!

Yes, we all are to work and provide, but not to the extreme of more, more, more.

The kids will be grown one day, and you spent so much time focusing on more hours, more money, nicer car, nicer house, and on and on, that when you finally come to your senses and slow down.

The shattering reality is well as a lot of country folks would say “just gonna smack you in your face”.

Those darling children you had are now all grown, and you modeled exactly what they are now striving for today, more!!!

More money, more toys, more, more, more!!!

You are ready to slow down, to have family time, but well, they’ve already grown up and started their own lives.

They don’t have time to make for you; they are in too big of a hurry, too much to do, too many places to be, gotta get more and more.

There’s no time to slow down.

Sound familiar?

What a sad, but true cycle we live in today!

So, folks, I dare each of you to try this.

I suspect most of you will not, just because the sheer thought of it sets you on edge.

Turn everything off to complete quiet, go set somewhere by yourself, no gadgets of any kind, no sound of any kind.

Nothing or nobody else in your area, but YOU!!!

The only thing you should be able to hear, is just you……. breathing; slowly, calmly just breathing.

Now, see if you can sit there for 15 minutes.

You just simply sit in the stillness… doing nothing, focusing on the calm.

Can you do it?

Are you even willing to try?

Or is going full speed ahead like a crazy rabbit more important to you?

When was the last time you sat in the stillness, even for 5 minutes?

You should try it sometime, like maybe now.

Do you think you can do it?

I think a bunch of you are going, “Yeah right, piece of cake.”

Well, then go for it!!!

I dare you.

By the way, I’d love to hear comments back on this one.

Especially if your brave enough to truly do it.

My guess is over 70% of you are too attached to gadgets and gizmos to survive it.

I dare ya to prove me wrong!

I double dog dare ya!!!!!!

Til next time!!!

Simply Be

This isn’t my usual blog type, but as I was sitting here in my study crocheting,

I looked up at this on my wall.

I’ve had it there over a year, and read it often.

But tonight it just simply struck a chord with me.

I thought I would just share it with all of you.

If we each would just choose seven of those to simply live by, our journey of life here together would be so much more peaceful and enjoyable.

Til next time!!!
