A Friend

by Christine

FRIENDS. …Remember when friends were the people you called and talked with, visited with, shared memories with, spent time together doing things you both enjoyed, talking, laughing, acting silly, helping each other through those dark times, sharing the joyful times!

That used to be the meaning of a FRIEND!

But in today’s society, our kids sure miss out on a lot, well honestly just about all generations do, when it comes to a FRIEND.

We seem to be a society hooked on social media….. and the results, we have lost the meaning of true conversation and friendship.

Modern technology has taken a lot of that away… facebook, twitter, snapchat, text message, messenger, and the list goes on and on…    They all are great things in and of themselves, no doubt.

But when a person says… ” I have 237 facebook friends”, well good, if that’s what makes you happy?

But how many of them do you really share time with as a FRIEND????

A real friend, like a friend, used to be, not somebody that you socialize with via social media.

Or text with constantly while in the same house, or worse yet same room.

Instead of eye to eye contact and spoken conversation.

Something to ponder over, ain’t it?

So why don’t ya’ll think about using that phone for calling a FRIEND?

Try chatting via your voice, make plans to have lunch together, a shopping spree, or just a visit with each other over a cup of coffee or iced tea?

Go make some real memories with a FRIEND, instead of reading a post and hitting like.

Don’t you think that would really mean more?

How many of us truly remember, who’s facebook comment we liked last week?  I sure don’t…..

But I sure do remember who I spent real time with.

Just food for thought, cause you see to this old-fashioned woman…

Nothing beats real friendship in person… ever!
